Skyview® Skylight Shades are custom made to fit your individual window opening dimensions. They are the most flexible skylight blinds in the industry. They are also the easiest to install. They can be utilized to cover skylight windows, roof windows or regular vertical windows. They are operated with a telescopic extension pole or a handle on the moving rail. There are no dangling cords (cord controls are available for vertical window shades.) The shades are under constant tension and therefore can operate at any angle. They can be installed to gather to the top or bottom.
We offer three different lines of skylight shades which are available with either manual adjustment or as Skyview® Motorized Shades
Optima Shades offer the most convenient, trouble free operation of any constant tension skylight shades. Easy to install instructions are included with each shade. They operate from an open to closed position by use of a telescopic extension pole inserted into a recess in the moving rail or by a handle located in the same location. Each shade has an easy to adjust tension control, side channels and mounting hardware. Get a quote for optima skylight shades. There are many fabric options which can be combined for the most amount of flexibility in the Day/Night and Ultima Day/Night models.
Aluminum side channels are included which allow the shades to fit into window opening up to 1” wider than the shade itself by deciding which leg of the “L” shaped side channels should be used to face downward - see diagram below. Side channels are not required to support shades with lengths under 48”. Their main use is to take up differences in window and window well widths and to reduce light gaps. They may also be used at the top and bottom of the window. – supplied upon request.
The maximum width of a skylight shade is 60. You may fit more than one shade into a light shaft by putting two “L” shaped side rails back to back to form a “T" or installing a mullion made from wood to divide the skylight shaft into two, you will want to take final measurement after the mullion is installed to insure you order the correct size.
Shades are operated by either 3-6’ or 6-12 telescopic aluminum poles with a wood or plastic tip at the end. For those shades which are within reach a handle option is available.
Shade tension can be adjusted to obtain the exact amount of tension to operate the shades easily, and at the same time to keep the shade and shade travel rail parallel to the other rails. A spring and turnbuckle are located in the bottom rail which can be reached by snapping the bottom rail out of the bottom brackets.
Please note that very high shades, ie those higher than 14’ may be too difficult to operate with a telescopic pole. This is especially true for those who cannot create sufficient leverage to push the shades forward or backward. In this case we recommend motorized skylight shades.
